The International Microwave Power Institute (IMPI) announced it has formed a Solid State RF Energy Section, comprised of IMPI members dedicated to realizing solid-state RF energy’s potential as a clean, highly efficient and controllable heat and power source.

The RF Energy Alliance (RFEA), formed as a non-profit industry association to promote the adoption of solid-state microwave technology for energy applications, has dissolved, recommending its members join the International Microwave Power Institute (IMPI). The RFEA’s lead companies — EGO, HUBER+SUHNER, pinkRF and Rogers — have joined.

Keysight Technologies Inc. announced it is collaborating with the University of Bristol on 5G millimeter-wave research. The two organizations are already deeply involved in the 5G ecosystem in Europe and the U.S. and now will be working closely together on multiple 5G millimeter-wave technologies. 

 Intel, a world leader in computing innovation, and Wipro Limited, a leading global information technology, consulting, and business process services company, announced that they are joining the International M2M Council (IMC), a global trade association for the growing industry known as the Internet of Things (or machine-to-machine communications). IMC, which has quickly gained over 10,000 members, comprised almost entirely of OEMs, enterprise users, and applications developers, aims to boost understanding and sales in IoT. 

RFMW Ltd. announced that Tom Butler has joined their organization as director of sales for North America. Butler has served in senior management positions where he has directed sales at local, national and international levels.

National Instruments announced the promotion of Eric Starkloff to senior vice president of marketing. Starkloff leads the organizations responsible for strategic planning, positioning the company’s innovative hardware and software platforms, marketing NI’s products and corporate brand, and creating an effective eBusiness platform.
