OneWeb and Panasonic Avionics Corporation have agreed to terms that enable Panasonic Avionics to market, sell and support OneWeb’s high speed, low latency in-flight broadband services to commercial airlines worldwide.

 Boeing and Turkish Airlines finalized an order for 15 additional 737 MAX 8s, valued at $1.6 billion at list prices. The order follows the announcement in May 2013when the Turkish flag carrier placed the largest Boeing order in the airline's history for 50 737 MAXs and 20 Next-Generation 737s. 

Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services and Rockwell Collins, a pioneer in communications, aviation electronics and information management, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to make Rockwell Collins a Value Added Reseller (VAR) of GX Aviation Ka-broadband service.  

TEGAM Inc., a leading supplier of innovative RF power measurements, was recently awarded Patent No. 8,610,069, “Coaxial to Dual Co-Planar Waveguide Launcher for Microwave Bolometry,” This patent describes a new way to construct bolometers—a type of microwave power sensor that uses thermistors—that makes them more accurate and easier to assembly.

According to Euroconsult’s newly released strategic review, Prospects for In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity, the global in-flight connectivity market is expected to grow over the next 10 years, with over 12,000 commercial and 16,000 business airplanes to provide in-flight connectivity to passengers by 2022. With a take-up rate of less than 5 percent, in-flight connectivity services generated less than $300 million in revenue from airline passengers last year. The market is expected to grow to $1.3 billion by 2022.
