Blu Wireless Technology offers a quick overview of WiGig and how it fits into the whole Wi-Fi ecosystem following certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

Peraso Technologies Inc., a leader in Wireless Gigabit (WiGig®) chipsets, today announced the availability of its W120 WiGig phased array chipset for consumer electronics. The W120 builds on the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED WiGig™ W110 Chipset, with support for high-bandwidth applications such as wireless routers, VR devices and wireless displays.

The 802.11ad (WiGig) chipset market is set to reach a critical juncture in 2017 when the technology hits higher adoption levels in the mobile and computing space. ABI Research forecasts 180 million WiGig chipsets will ship to the smartphone market in 2017, with smartphone chipsets accounting for almost half of the 1.5 billion total market shipments in 2021.

Peraso Technologies Inc. announced that IgniteNet has selected Peraso WiGig^® infrastructure components to provide the core 60 GHz functionality in the MetroLinq™ family of outdoor wireless products.

The Peraso W110 chipset is targeted for WiGig® applications and includes the PRS1125 direct conversion 60 GHz RFIC and the PRS4001 baseband IC to implement the necessary functionality in the next generation IEEE 802.11ad standard for Wi-Fi networks. Incorporating a USB 3.0 system interface, the W110 chipset is ideally suited for adapters and peripherals which are expected to play a vital role as the WiGig^® ecosystem continues to develop in 2016.
