GLOBALFOUNDRIES® (GF®) and Soitec announced a multi-year supply agreement for 300 mm radio frequency silicon-on-insulator (RF-SOI) wafers, allowing GF to further expand its critical role in providing solutions for the next-generation mobile phone market.

Soitec, a world leader in generating and manufacturing revolutionary semiconductor materials for the electronics and energy industries, and Shanghai Simgui Technology Co. Ltd., a Chinese silicon-based semiconductor materials company, have formed an international partnership to address both China's growing demand and limited worldwide production capacity for 200-mm silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers used in fabricating semiconductors for radio-frequency (RF) and power applications.

Soitec has reached high-volume manufacturing of its new Enhanced Signal Integrity™ (eSI) substrates, enabling cost-effective and high-performance RF devices. The eSI products are said to be the first ‘trap-rich’ type of material in full production.

Soitec (Euronext) and SunEdison Inc. announced that they have entered into a patent cross-license agreement relating to silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafer products. The agreement provides each company with access to the other’s patent portfolio for SOI technologies and ends all outstanding legal disputes between the companies.

STMicroelectronics, Soitec (Euronext) and Circuits Multi Projets^®(CMP) announced that ST’s CMOS 28 nm Fully Depleted Silicon-On-Insulator (FD-SOI) process, which uses innovative silicon substrates from Soitec, is now available for prototyping to universities, research labs and design companies through the silicon brokerage services provided by CMP.
