Title: Recent Advances in Broadband RF Amplifiers: Beyond Distributed Amps
Date: December 10, 2024
Time: 8am PT / 11am ET
Sponsored by: Marki Microwave
Presented by: Doug Jorgesen, Vice President of Applications Engineering
Abstract:
While narrowband communications systems can be tuned for peak performance, designers of broadband RF systems grapple with complexities of ensuring low noise, high linearity, and flat gain across expansive frequency bands. Traditionally, distributed amplifiers were the primary solution for achieving acceptable performance across GHz-wide bandwidths despite limitations in power, linearity, and noise. However, recent innovations in transistor technology have catalyzed the development of new broadband amplifier designs. These advanced designs not only offer reduced size and power consumption but also deliver markedly improved performance characteristics uniformly across a spectrum extending from kHz to over 40 GHz.
This presentation will delve into the latest advancements in broadband amplifier circuits, discussing crucial design considerations and trade-offs. You will learn how to solve problems with space and power limitations while improving system performance and reducing cost by using a state of the art broadband amplifier.
