Title: Disruptive Corrugated C-band Horn Antenna produced with Additive Manufacturing
Date: October 31, 2023
Time: 8am PT / 11am ET
Sponsored by: 3D Systems
Presented by: Laura Foucaud, Antenna Design Engineer, Thales Alenia Space and Antoine de Crombrugghe, Application Development Engineer, Thales Alenia Space
Abstract:
The space telecommunication market is an increasingly competitive market and new innovative products should continually be developed. Additive manufacturing is one of the innovative technologies Thales Alenia Space has been using since 2013 to optimize their products. In this webinar, Thales Alenia Space and 3D Systems will present a typical Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) approach implemented on a classic C band corrugated antenna horn.
Using 3D Systems' large format multi-laser platform, capable of printing parts up to 500 x 500 x 500 mm, the result is a seamless horn antenna that can be manufactured in 3 days. This short lead-time opens a new world of iterative shape optimization.
Presenter Bios:
Laura Foucaud: As an antenna design engineer, Laura’s main focus is to work on the preliminary and detailed RF design of active and passive antenna solutions. She proposes and analyzes different antenna configurations to define the optimum design for overall system requirements.
Antoine de Crombrugghe: As an application development engineer, Antoine's main focus is to harvest the full potential of Additive Manufacturing (AM) for 3D Systems' Aerospace customers. With more than 10 years of AM experience he is pushing applications from prototype to serial production through his Design for AM expertise and the development of robust manufacturing process flows.
