Title: Mixing Filter Technologies to Create Higher-Value, Compact Filters
Date: April 13, 2023
Time: 8am PT / 11am ET

Presented by: Jared Burdick, Microwave R&D Engineer, Knowles Precision Devices
Abstract:
Today, there are a variety of applications, such as electronic warfare devices, that must operate reliably across a wide range of frequencies. This presents RF filter designers with numerous challenges as most filters are not inherently designed to function optimally across wide frequency ranges. Paired with the fact that size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C) must also be top considerations for many devices, simply adding more filters to address different frequency ranges is not an option.
In this webinar, we will discuss several creative options for developing compact filters for devices with wide operating frequency ranges, such as combining the best features of both lumped element and microstrip filters into a small quasi-lumped element filter package. We will also discuss how working with a knowledgeable specialty filter supplier can open the door to other approaches for combining filtering technologies such as developing integrated passive devices (IPDs) or using high k ceramics for substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filters./p>
