Comsol has their annual conferences in several cities around the world for users and customers to network and learn the latest about their platform. The new version of Comsol typically follows about a month after the Boston area event that I attend each year in Burlington, MA near their office. It is always an interesting event as it covers many areas of science so offers a wide variety of applications and interesting simulations that have been done on the platform.
The keynote typically offers a glimpse of the upcoming improvements in the next version. This year, version 6.3 of Comsol will offer new and updated functionality for modeling and simulation of electromechanics, pressure acoustics, CFD, and electrical discharges. It includes user-friendly geometry and mesh handling as well as Java Shell and a chatbot for apps and models. Comsol allows the user to build stand alone simulation apps so that others can use it from internal users within the company to customers. It also communicates with OpenAI’s GPT models to generate and debug COMSOL API for use with Java code.
In the area of electromagnetics related to RF and microwave simulation, Comsol 6.3 will offer a transient interface for transmission line modeling of EM waves in, for example, coaxial cables, and RLGC parameters multiphysics interface for series RL parameters and shunt GC parameters. In the Part Library, it will include parts with high-precision edge launch connectors from Signal Microwave.
There is also a small exhibition and many technical sessions that you can attend and learn more about different areas of science that use Comsol. Join in on the fun and attend the next Comsol Conference in a city near you to find out the latest tips and tricks for using their platform and keep informed on the latest capabilities.
