Qualcomm’s Cristiano Amon just released a quarterly update video yesterday covering 5G rollouts, legal updates and new products and partnerships. Here is a quick summary:

  • Qualcomm is thrilled (and relieved) that the court reversed the FTC cases against them – proves that their business model and IP are solid
  • They have signed more than 100 5G licensing agreement to date, up from 85 last quarter
  • Qualcomm has multi-year license agreements with every major handset OEM now!
  • Over 90 operators have launched 5G networks in over 40 countries with 300 more investing in the technology
  • All operators in the US have launched mmWave 5G with many device models supporting it – several other countries have also launched mmWave 5G with many to follow
  • In China, 5G mobile phones now represent the majority of shipments!
  • Newly released series 4 Snapdragon 5G mobile platform will enable 5G smart phones for as low as $150
  • In fiscal 2021, Qualcomm will be one of the largest RF front end supplier (by revenue) in the market!
  • Snapdragon 8CX gen 2 enables fast and reliable connectivity with 5G mmWave, sub 6 GHz and WiFi 6
  • FWA is expected to account for 25% of the global mobile network data now and working with OEMs on more than 80 FWA products!
  • Have a partnership with Veoneer for automotive autonomy and scalable solution for ADAS levels 1 to 4
  • Snapdragon XR2 is enabling extended reality applications and participating in most products in the area
  • Snapdragon processor is powering the aircraft ingenuity that is part of the Perseverance Rover Mission
