August kicks off with our coverage of the largest RF/microwave show in Europe, European Microwave Week (EuMW) taking place in Paris Sept 6-11. The exhibition is sold out in the venue, Palais des Congres. The event is made up of the European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference, European Microwave Conference and European Radar plus Workshops and Short Courses. In addition, EuMW 2015 will include the Defence, Security and Space Forum featuring an industry session organized by Microwave Journal that includes the latest in UAV defense technology from R&S, Peregrine, Qorvo and ADI on Wed at 13:50 (Room Maillot). The Microwave Journal editors will be roaming the exhibition visiting the exhibitors to learn about the latest technology being released. We will have our video crew and be filming highlights and demos of all the EuMW 2015 activities.
The August EuMW show issue features a cover story written by Thales about the challenges of introducing UAVs into the civilian airspace and a multi-sensor approach to solving the problems. Of course, there is plenty of EuMW 2015 event coverage from conference overviews to exhibition information to new product introductions. There are also technical articles from R&S on 5G T&M Challenges, Maury Microwave on NVNA Methodologies and Infineon on a 70/80 GHz point to point radio.
With the EuMW issue being moved to August, September is our Satellite and Radio Communications issue along with our Military Microwaves supplement. The September cover story will provide an overview of the NewSpace market, the emerging industry of the commercialization of launch vehicles and space satellites. Greg Peters of Keysight will write about the challenges of participating in this industry and what’s needed to compete. There will also be articles on GaN for WiFi, mmWave IMD measurements and a new method for testing satellite TV tuners and LNBs.
The Military Microwaves supplement comes out with the September issue and will provide an overview of the latest advances in radar technology in the cover story. Other articles will cover calibration, military market analysis, and signal and spectrum monitoring.
October is our Passive and Control Components themed issue which where the cover feature will focus on SOI technology and how it is affecting the RF industry with significant growth in control products such as switches and even for complete integrated RF front ends on a single chip. It will outline the history, technical advantages and future challenges for SOI technology comparing it to traditional RF solutions.
These 3 issues are covering some of the most interesting topics in the market today so don’t miss out on any of them. I hope that everyone has a nice end to the summer and don’t forget to catch Frequency Matters from the beach.
