Pat Hindle is responsible for editorial content, article review and special industry reporting for Microwave Journal magazine and its web site in addition to social media and special digital projects. Prior to joining the Journal, Mr. Hindle held various technical and marketing positions throughout New England, including Marketing Communications Manager at M/A-COM (Tyco Electronics), Product/QA Manager at Alpha Industries (Skyworks), Program Manager at Raytheon and Project Manager/Quality Engineer at MIT. Mr. Hindle graduated from Northeastern University - Graduate School of Business Administration and holds a BS degree from Cornell University in Materials Science Engineering.

It’s Crunch Time - Getting Ready for IMS 2012

The next 2 weeks are crunch time for those attending IMS 2012 in Montreal. Exhibitors are getting their last minute booth posters and displays ready that did not make their ground shipment and presenters are finishing up their presentations. Microwave Journal mailed out the May IMS Show issue in mid-May so that everyone would have time to read the stories, articles and show information. Our June Semiconductor issue is at the printer and we will have a limited number of copies available at IMS.

This year, Microwave Journal improved the IMS 2012 Product Showcasesection. We put the exhibitor list in front of a nice spread of the floor plan that we had custom drawn so that it was actually readable down to the booth number level (which none that I have seen in the past were). Then we put the Product Showcase from our advertisers in order by booth rows so that visitors can walk the floor and easily find products of interest. Next we tied in the May Puzzler in the back of the magazine with the Product Showcase – find the answers to the Puzzler in the Product Showcase to complete the “Scavenger Hunt” and turn them into our booth (#2018) for a daily chance to win a Kindle Fire. In addition, we will be handing out limited quantities of our MTT-Shirt.

We have a strong online component also with a dedicated IMS 2012 Online Show Daily web pagethat has links to all of our news, stories, articles, products, Twitter Feed, blogs plus pictures and videos coming later after the event. We have put together Pinterest IMS Product Showcase boards by product category as another easy way to discover new products at the exhibition.

At IMS 2012, we are running 2 special panel sessions. The first is a special expert panel on “Where are the Emerging RF Market Opportunities are for GaN?” starting Wednesday at 8-10 am in room 516 and includes experts from Cree, Nitronex, RFMD, TriQuint, NXP, UMS and Strategy Analytics. The second is the MicroApps keynote also on Wednesday at noon in the MicroApps Theater on Device Characterization Methods & Advanced RF/Microwave Designgiven by Agilent, Anritsu, AWR and Maury Microwave.

Our Editor’s schedules are pretty full at this point so we will do our best to make it around to see everyone.
