Altum RF, New MMIC Player, Aims to Fill the Void

Interview with Greg Baker, president and CEO

April 25, 2019

Greg Baker, president and CEO of Altum RFFabless RFIC supplier Altum RF aims to fill the void created by the continuing RF semiconductor industry consolidation: fewer players and these ever-larger companies becoming more selective about market opportunities, while pruning portfolios that don’t generate the desired volume or margins.

Tapping the global pool of MMIC design talent and numerous foundries offering a smorgasbord of compound semiconductor and silicon processes, Altum RF is building its value proposition around innovation and time-to-market — intending to fill the gaps and capture new market opportunities before the bigger players can turn the crank on their stage-gate product development processes.

Leading the firm as president and CEO, Greg Baker has done this before, beginning his RF career at ITT GaAsTEK, followed by Sirenza Microdevices, Mimix Broadband, NXP, Nitronex and, most recently, MACOM.

On Wednesday (April 24), I spoke with Greg by phone to learn more about Altum RF. Listen to our conversation:
