Participating in the FCC's Connect America Fund, AT&T completed deploying the first wave of fixed wireless internet access using LTE to rural, underserved locations in Georgia. The service will provide download speeds of at least 10 Mbps.
AT&T plans a nationwide deployment of its LTE-M network for the Internet of Things (IoT) during the second quarter of 2017 in the U.S. and by the end of the year in Mexico. The rollout across AT&T's LTE network in the U.S. and Mexico will cover some 400 million people, as of the end of 2016.
AT&T updated their 2017 plans for 5G development, which will use fixed and mobile trials to evaluate and provide feedback about the proposed 5G standards.
