Raytheon Co. announced that its Board of Directors has elected Dr. Thomas A. Kennedy, age 58, to serve as the chief executive officer of Raytheon Co., effective March 31, 2014. Dr. Kennedy will succeed William H. Swanson, who has served as the CEO of Raytheon Co.since 2003, and who advised the board of his intention to step down from his position as CEO in March, following his 65th birthday next month.

Raytheon Co. has received a resume work order from the U.S. Navy to commence development of the new Air and Missile Defense Radar. The order followed the official Government Accountability Office update of its database to reflect the status of the AMDR contract award protest as withdrawn.

The Raytheon Co. and Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture received a $176 million contract for the production and delivery of 842 Block I Javelin missile rounds and 120 command launch units (CLUs). The contract was awarded to the Javelin Joint Venture in September.

Raytheon Co. plans to increase the size of its Forest manufacturing facility by more than 20,000 square feet and hire more than 150 new workers, Raytheon and state officials announced.

Raytheon Co. has been selected by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics to provide its Advanced Countermeasure Electronic System (ACES) for the second group of Iraq's F-16IQ aircraft ordered this year. ACES was also selected by Lockheed Martin in 2012 for the first group of F-16IQs and is the integrated electronic warfare system of choice for other international air forces.

Raytheon Co. fired 84 precision-guided Excalibur Ib all up rounds during qualification flight tests at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz. During the testing, Excalibur Ib exhibited exceptional accuracy, with the majority of the rounds landing within two meters of the target. The tests also certified stringent performance and safety requirements.

Raytheon Co. has been awarded a $385,742,176 cost-plus-incentive-fee contract for the engineering and modeling development phase design, development, integration, test and delivery of Air and Missile Defense S-Band Radar (AMDR-S) and Radar Suite Controller (RSC). AMDR is the Navy's next generation integrated air and missile defense radar and is being designed for Flight III Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) class destroyers beginning in 2016.

Raytheon Co. completed a successful field test of an advanced Electronic Support Measure (ESM) seeker installed in a Block IV Tomahawk missile as part of the company's new product improvement program. 

In a first-of-its-kind test for Raytheon Co.'s Accelerated Improved Intercept Initiative system, AI3 destroyed an unmanned aerial system (UAS) in flight. The intercept was part of the second guided test flights for the AI3 program and follows its first in-flight defeat of a 107mm rocket earlier in the test series.

The U.S. Air Force awarded Raytheon Co. a $14 million Lot 2 contract to continue full rate production of High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missile (HARM) Control Section Modification (HCSM) upgrade units.
