Satellite 2020 was one of the trade shows that was able to go ahead even though the last day of the exhibition was cancelled. The timing was just right that it occurred right before the major shutdowns in the US went into place. The keynote Monday afternoon was a “fireside chat” with Elon Musk as he was asked about many of his space ventures and plans for the future.

While the event will not take place this year, many companies were already touting their new products and demonstrations that would be on display. Therefore, Microwave Journal has collected these from the RF/microwave community and developed the summary here.

EDI CON China 2020, taking place May 13-14, 2020 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, is accepting nominations for the third annual EDI CON Product Innovation Awards.

The biannual IEEE COMCAS (Conference on Microwaves, Communications, Antennas, Electronic Systems) 2019 event took place 4-6 Nov in Tel Aviv, Israel with a solid turnout of attendees. It continues the tradition of providing a multidisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas, research results, and industry experience in areas such as communications, antennas, Radar, RF and Microwave Circuits and Systems, and Bio-medical Engineering.

Under the theme of Intelligent Connectivity, MWC19 Los Angeles showcased the convergence of Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Big Data enabled by 5G taking place Oct 22-24. This used to be CTIA but GSMA took it over recently so has re-branded it as MWC Los Angeles and they have MWC in Barcelona and Shanghai so cover the globe now with Barcelona being the marquee event.

Phased array systems continue to be a rapidly evolving technology with steady advances motivated by the challenges presented to modern military and commercial applications. This year, the conference had a significant amount of commercial content as phased arrays are being designed and produced for mmWave 5G applications from fixed wireless access to repeaters to small cells.

Microwave Journal's editors canvassed the exhibition at last week's 2019 European Microwave Week and have condensed what we saw and heard in this summary of the event.

EDI CON China 2020 will provide a forum for engineers to share their expertise and discuss new design methodologies with colleagues during this year’s conference.
