Linear Technology Corp. introduces three low power 16-bit, 20Msps analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), the LTC2269, LTC2270 and LTC2271, offering the lowest input-referred noise and tight integral nonlinearity error (INL) for very high precision DC measurements. With only 46µVRMS input noise and maximum guaranteed INL error of ±2.3LSB, these ADCs are suitable for very low noise, high linearity sampling applications such as digital x-ray, infrared and medical imaging, pachymeters, spectrometry and cytometry.

Colt Technology Services, NEC commence mobile operator trials with Femto as a service

Colt Technology Services in partnership with NEC, announced that it is conducting the first ever live trials of small cells using Femto-as-a-Service (FaaS) with a leading, large-scale European mobile operator, using a multi-operator small cell (Femto) gateway. The FaaS offer from Colt breaks down the investment barrier for mobile operators to start their own Small Cell service as it eliminates the need for mobile operators to have a dedicated Femto Gateway in the operator core.

Cambridge Broadband Networks and NEC deliver high-capacity enterprise access for QSC

Cambridge Broadband Networks (CBNL) and NEC Europe Ltd. have announced a major agreement with QSC to provide high-speed wireless internet access to its enterprise customers. QSC, among the leading mid-size providers of ICT services in Germany, is installing CBNL’s VectaStar multipoint microwave equipment to meet the high-capacity internet demands of its enterprise customers across several cities in Germany. QSC’s initial deployment will consist of VectaStar access points and remote terminals, using the available 26GHz spectrum.

Samsung ships twice as many smartphones as Apple in Q3

Worldwide handset shipments decreased 1.9 percent YoY to 387.3 million units in Q3 2012, according to new data from market intelligence firm ABI Research. Worldwide smartphone shipments increased 32.8 percent  YoY to 155.5 million over the same period. Samsung retained the lead position in both handset and smartphone shipments. Underscoring its accomplishment, Samsung shipped more than double the smartphones of second place Apple.
