Coupling Wave Solutions S.A. (CWS), a leader in solutions for interference analysis in complex chip designs incorporating RF and analog blocks, announced the availability of a new productivity tool called SiPEX. SiPEX models the silicon substrate on insulators much faster than any other tools in its class and allows radio frequency (RF) silicon-on-insulator (SOI) designers to increase the number of design iterations—including spice simulation—up to 10 times in the same time frame.

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. announced that its Santa Clara, Calif.-based subsidiary, Comtech Xicom Technology Inc., has received a Ka-Band high-power amplifier contract for $1.3 million from a leading satellite communications (SATCOM) direct-to-home (DTH) television service provider.

Cobham and RFHIC will jointly develop GaN High Power Amplifier (HPA) modules that will be integrated into a prototype 175 kW solid-state transmitter. Development activities under this Memorandum of Agreement will be executed by Cobham Integrated Electronics Solutions, a business unit of CAES at its Exeter, N.H. site.

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) announced the release of an extensive RF amplifier library of Sys-Parameters models for Keysight Technologies Inc.’s Genesys RF simulation and synthesis software.

The students at Technion—Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel have successfully designed a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) using NI AWR Design Environment™. The design challenge was to build an efficient, easy-to-use SAR simulator that would connect to MATLAB for signal processing and that could handle many targets on the surface and then use MATLAB to calculate the object shapes.

Keysight Technologies Inc. introduced the N2839A differential browser head for use with InfiniiMax I/II Series probe amps, bringing the measurement fidelity of a solder-in probe head to hand-held browsing. When used with the InfiniiMax II 1169A probe amplifier, the N2839A gives users 12 GHz of bandwidth, making this the world’s most usable hand-held browser solution for measuring high-speed differential or single-ended signals.
