Linear Technology’s SmartMesh IP™ wireless sensor networking products now provide the ability to program industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications directly on the embedded ARM Cortex-M3, running Micrium’s µC/OS-II real-time operating system. 

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded Raytheon Co. two contract modifications totaling a combined $5 million in support of the Arrays at Commercial Timescales (ACT) program. ACT is focused on developing technology that enables rapidly upgradable and widely deployable radar array architectures. The awards are the result of a competitive down select process after which DARPA chose Raytheon for the next phase of both programs.

X-COM Systems LLC, a subsidiary of Bird Technologies, introduced the IQC5000B RF record and playback system designed for applications such as electronic warfare, interference analysis, surveillance, and spectrum monitoring and management. In the industry’s smallest form factor, the IQC5000B has the widest instantaneous bandwidth, 4 Tbytes of removable, high-speed solid-state data storage, and other features tailored for the most demanding applications.

Featuring similar qualities as the previously introduced 4- and 2-way products, exceptional insertion loss and band flatness performance is continued in this product. 

Cavendish Kinetics, the leader in high-performance RF MEMS tuning solutions, announced that its SmarTune™ antenna tuning solution is gaining significant traction in the LTE smartphone market, after the first OEM adopted Cavendish’s SmarTune solution at the end of 2014. Now shipping in five different smartphone models, the new design wins address difficult LTE spectrum band combinations, especially the 2 GHz band required in the Chinese market and the 700/800 MHz bands required by many European and North American operators.

Axell Wireless, together with test and measurement company Aeroflex - acquired by Cobham in September last year- will form a new business unit, Cobham Wireless.

Microsemi Corp. a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, and Vitesse Semiconductor Corp., jointly announced that Microsemi has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Vitesse for $5.28 per share through a cash tender offer, representing a premium of 32 percent based on the average closing price of Vitesse's shares of common stock during the 30 trading days ended March 17, 2015.

Mercury Systems Inc., a leading high-tech commercial provider of more affordable secure and sensor processing subsystems powering today’s critical defense and intelligence applications, announced that its Mercury Defense Systems (MDS) subsidiary has received $2 million in follow-on orders to deliver advanced Digital RF Memory (DRFM) jammers to the U.S. Navy.

Cobham AvComm, formerly Aeroflex AvComm business unit, announced new automated test and alignment support for Motorola APX Series and Motorola MOTOTRBO Series radios to its latest product; the 8800 Series Digital Radio Test Set. The application fully automates radio testing and alignment, and ensures optimum radio performance in significantly less time; minimizing service and support costs for the end users and dealers.
