Analog Devices Inc. announced the acquisition of Innovasic Inc., a leading provider of Deterministic Ethernet semiconductor and software solutions. The acquisition adds a suite of multiprotocol Industrial Ethernet solutions and key enabling technologies to ADI’s Smart Automation Solutions portfolio for industrial automation and Industrial Internet of Things (IoT).

Qualcomm Inc. and NXP Semiconductors N.V. announced a definitive agreement, unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies, under which Qualcomm will acquire NXP. Pursuant to the agreement, a subsidiary of Qualcomm will commence a tender offer to acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of NXP for $110.00 per share in cash, representing a total enterprise value of approximately $47 billion.

Anritsu Co. introduced new software for its Radio Communications Analyzer MT8821C that creates the industry’s first test solution that supports evaluation of 4x4 MIMO 256 QAM RF Rx performance for all DL 3CC CA band combinations with no restrictions on frequency and signal bandwidth combinations. The new software provides wireless chipset and UE manufacturers, as well as mobile operators with a solution to conduct efficient, highly accurate carrier acceptance tests to ensure performance.

Integrated Device Technology Inc. (IDT) announced RapidIO^® Gen3 interoperability with Xilinx UltraScale™ FPGAs, enabling a key technology for global rollout of 5G and other advanced network systems. IDT RapidIO RXS switches, coupled with Xilinx UltraScale FPGAs, deliver the essential combination of ultra-low 100ns latency interconnect and  programmable computing with application-specific accelerators needed for 4G advanced and 5G programs.

Peraso Technologies Inc. announced that their WiGig USB Adapter Reference Design Kit is part of the Wi-Fi Alliance test bed for Wi-Fi CERTIFIED WiGig® and among the first products to achieve certification.

Releasing quarterly financial results, Apple reported strong demand for the new iPhone 7, exceeding manufacturing capacity. The company shipped 45.5 million iPhones during fiscal Q4, and company revenue was $46.9 billion. Apple's revenue guidance for the December quarter (fiscal Q1) is $76 billion to $78 billion.

Analog Devices Inc. and Dell EMC unveiled a proof of concept (POC) for an Internet of Things (IoT) solution that tracks the health and location of first responders. The POC IoT solution is designed to improve the safety and effectiveness of first responders when involved in an emergency situation, especially those in harsh environments. According to the National Fire Protection Association, more than 60,000 fire fighter injuries in North America alone are reported annually, of which 25 percent are as a result of overexertion or strain.
