Aeris® Communications, the only cellular carrier built exclusively for machines, announced it has partnered with Novotech Technologies, a leading global distributor of wireless, machine-to-machine (M2M) products, services and solutions, to deliver M2M connectivity services. With this partnership, Novotech will begin distributing products connected by Aeris’ intelligent machine framework.

Researchers from Rice University unveiled a new multi-antenna technology that could help wireless providers keep pace with the voracious demands of data-hungry smartphones and tablets. The technology aims to dramatically increase network capacity by allowing cell towers to simultaneously beam signals to more than a dozen customers on the same frequency.

China Mobile Hong Kong, subsidiary of the world's largest mobile operator China Mobile Limited, has selected Ericsson to expand its commercial LTE network with TD-LTE (LTE TDD) in Hong Kong. Together the companies will now build a converged LTE FDD/TDD network.

LTE TDD has gained wide ecosystem acceptance and backing from leading infrastructure and device vendors. Ovum expects that 25 percent of all LTE connections will include LTE TDD by 2016.

CRFS announces the public launch of its RFeye^® real-time spectrum monitoring and white spaces tracking network. This pilot network has been trialled by CRFS initially in Cambridge as part of the Cambridge TV White Spaces trial. CRFS now plans to roll out a larger network in London to coincide with the various major events being held in London in July and August.
