In collaboration with the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S), IEEE.tv will produce and deliver coverage of the 2010 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS), to be held May 23-28 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. “The Virtual Participation Program will include an exciting mix of live and recorded programming to provide the sights and sounds of IMS2010 for those who cannot attend in person. We will have live streaming coverage of the Plenary Session on Tuesday, May 25th, beginning at 10:10 AM PDT featuring our keynote speaker, the Honorable Zachary J. Lemnios, Director of Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E) for the United States Department of Defense,” said IMS2010 Virtual Participation Program Chair, Tim Lee. “Additionally, Dr. Kiyo Tomiyasu will be presented with the Thomas Alva Edison Medal at the IMS 2010 Plenary Session, and he will be inducted into the IEEE Heritage Circle, the IEEE Foundation’s donor recognition program. On Wednesday, May 26th, IEEE.tv will cover the Special Session honoring Dr. Tomiyasu as invited speakers recall activities associated with Dr. Tomiyasu, and his tremendous contribution to the MTT-S, Geoscience Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) and the IEEE.”
The IEEE.tv IMS 2010 coverage will also include a Special Luncheon set for May 25th to celebrate Chuck Swift’s 52 years of service in support of the Los Angeles Chapter of MTT-S. The chapter has sponsored monthly technical meetings since 1952 and periodic national/international 3-5 day meetings since 1970, like the IMS meeting being held in Anaheim. Chuck formed his business, C.W. Swift & Associates, in July 1958, and since then has supported 450 meetings and seven IMS Symposia.
IEEE.tv coverage will include footage of the exhibition floor and Vendor Showcases as well as the recording of the Microwave Application Seminars (MicroApps) seminars from leading vendors of solutions, products and services in the microwave industry to assist in learning the latest techniques, skills and methods. Over 50 presentations will be given over three days (May 25-27) in a special theater the Exhibition area. Attendance is open to all conference and exhibit attendees. Everyone who attends MicroApps will receive a free CD-ROM of the presentation material.
