Keeping up with the latest technology and tools of the trade can almost be a full time job, which is why so many engineers fall behind in knowing about the latest and greatest products that are available for us to do our job better. After all, we do have our regular jobs to keep us busy. The downside of not making time for continued education is that it prevents engineers from improving their skills and knowledge base, thus improving their overall efficiency.
This problem is also felt by the EDA and test & measurement providers that work diligently to improve the capabilities of their products to better serve their customers. Apart from speed improvements which do not alter the interaction between the user and the software or test box, many enhancements involve changes to the user interface. This is why EDA and Test & measurement vendors must often host workshops and training courses.
AWR Corp. is taking an innovative approach this month with the introduction of their new “AWR TV” web site. AWR TV is a new online source for expert insight and inspiration. A number of Free videos are available for viewing, providing product demonstrations and information, tutorials and management interviews. Now, design engineers and would-be customers can view how these tools work and what new features have been added (also how to use these new features) when it is convenient for them.
The site was launched with a healthy amount of content including videos on Circuit/System co-simulation, a 4 channel router extraction, a three part series on multi-technology design and video demos of new features in MWO and VSS, just to mention a few.
Here’s a brief sample:
Microwave Office and Visual System Simulator Co-Simulation

Other features we found helpful include the related collateral, subject tagging and the segmenting of videos by categories (products, flow, design examples, features, etc.). Go to the site for full access to these training examples and good luck with your continuing education.
