9.30 on Tuesday 9 October will herald the start of the largest European Microwave Exhibition to date, with more than 300 exhibiting companies, taking up over 7,000 m2 of gross exhibition space. Throughout its three days the exhibition will become the focal point for the 4,000 attendees – delegates, exhibitors and visitors – expected to attend European Microwave Week and provide that all important interactive link between industry and academia.
Not only has the exhibition grown in size but also in status. Manufacturers are now building the show into their product development schedules and specifically targeting it as a launch pad for new products. And while it has always been where exhibitors hold meetings with existing and potential customers it is increasingly being used as a venue for companies to take that often rare opportunity to gather their regional, European or global sales forces together to meet and interact with each other as well as their customers.
Indeed, networking is a vital function of the European Microwave Exhibition where like-minded engineers, R&D specialists and vendors can discuss the latest trends and developments and exchange ideas. The conference Poster Sessions, displaying a total of 155 posters, will also stimulate discussion especially during the mid-morning and mid-afternoon coffee breaks and during lunch. The well established and widely used CST sponsored Cyber Café will be popular as always.
As has been mentioned, networking is a vital function of the European Microwave Exhibition and European Microwave Week as a whole. And, as recent years have proven, there is no better and more convivial place to do so than at the EuMW2007 Welcome Reception, which is being held on Tuesday 9 October. All registered conference delegates from all four conferences, as well as representatives from the companies participating in the exhibition are welcome to this Agilent Technologies, EuMA and Horizon House Publications sponsored event. The evening will begin with a champagne drinks reception and a welcome speech by the Platinum sponsor Agilent Technologies, followed by a Prize Draw. Then there is the unique opportunity for academia and industry to mix and enjoy good food, drink and convivial conversation.
Of course, all of these features add to the pull of the European Microwave Exhibition and have contributed to its continued success. However, the main attraction remains that it is the premier European microwaves and RF exhibition, which leading international companies target as a shop window for their latest introductions and innovations. It is patronised by companies large and small, established and developing from Europe, North America and Asia. The common link is that all of them are actively developing and producing products and services for the RF and microwaves industry.
Visitors have the chance to find out what is new and under development and talk technical with the experts. That is also the case at the various technical exhibitor workshops and seminars that run alongside the exhibition. This year too, for the first time ever, there is a significant new innovation with the introduction of Tutorial Seminars for Young Engineers, which are structured to provide vital educational input to the next generation. Planned to continue at EuMW in the coming years, the seminars are an investment in the RF and microwave industry’s future and aim to help young engineers along their chosen career paths.
