Agilent Technologies Inc. announced that the company is shipping Genesys 2007.08. This latest release of Genesys includes new statistical and electromagnetic analyses that provide affordable, first-pass accuracy for RF and microwave designs, resulting in shorter physical design cycles and faster time to market.

The new Genesys features the RF industry's only EDA environment that has realistic statistical component variations, histograms and yield optimization at a price that is comparable with consumer-oriented computational software. These new statistical analysis features, together with Agilent's Momentum GX (the high performance planar-3D EM simulator announced in August) enables highly accurate physical design. The powerful combination of technologies is available at a price that individual designers and small-budget design houses can afford.

"The inspiration for our enhanced statistical capability originated with one of our larger customers using Six Sigma design techniques," said Daren McClearnon, product marketing manager with Agilent's EEsof EDA division. "The customer wanted to implement Six Sigma methodology at the RF system architecture level, to transition away from spreadsheet-based tools. By implementing the required statistical capability as part of the Genesys platform, we fulfilled not only the customer's desire for more elegant system architecture tools, but we also opened these high-yield techniques to the broader RF community."

The Genesys statistical features include: new statistical distribution functions, applicable to any variable or component parameter; histogram plots, for use with circuit, RF system and EM simulation types; and 17 new statistics-oriented equations and measurements.

When combined with statistical Monte Carlo and Yield Optimization, along with physical models, RF-aware layout and circuit/system/EM simulators, Genesys 2007.08 provides the key capabilities for high performance physical design.
