Since Farran Technology was acquired by the Smiths Group there have been many positive changes. Farran has now been aligned with other similarly branded businesses, focused on markets within the Microwave Systems section of the Interconnect division, under the umbrella of the Specialty Engineering Group.

With these changes in company business structure, Farran has implemented an efficient management infrastructure to support the business going forward.

Farran is now led by David Gibbons, who has put together a very experienced and professional team to take Farran into the future. He has brought a new focus on customer satisfaction through improved performance in operations, with an emphasis on quality, delivery and a better understanding of customer needs.

This understanding of customer needs has been further enhanced by placing business development personnel in key geographical market areas.

The sales team has grown to effectively cover key territories for growth. Business development, in Europe, is led by Tom Scanlon, who has been with Farran for several years. Business development in the Americas is now headed by Chuck Coxhead. Based in Philadelphia, PA, Coxhead has extensive experience and knowledge of the millimeter-wave industry.

An Asia business development manager will be in place very shortly, who will cover Asian customers from the Smiths Interconnect office in Shanghai, China.

In operations, John Hughes has joined as engineering manager. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and more than 30 years experience of customer-focused engineering development in the millimeter-wave business.

Also joining the team, Caroline Dynan, who takes over the role of quality manager. Dynan has 19 years experience working in the microwave industry, bringing with her an in-depth knowledge in the area of quality management, and a heightened quality focus to the company's products and processes. Martin Fehilly continues as production manager. He has 25 years of millimeter-wave manufacturing experience at Farran.

The design team has been further enhanced with the addition of three senior millimeter-wave design engineers, with open requisitions to further strengthen this team. The production staff are completing structured training, as part of an emphasis on continuous process improvement, with on time delivery being a key focus.

These enhancements to the team give Farran an expanded capability to explore new exciting business opportunities. It is a time of change for Farran, but these are changes for the better, with an emphasis on customer focus and renewed and improved attention to key areas such as development engineering, quality, delivery, sales and customer service. This emphasis will allow Farran to realize its mission statement of “Customer-focused innovation excellence, providing outstanding engineering solutions and service, for mmWave applications.”
