Microwave Vision Group (MVG) announced the integration of the CMX500 One-Box Tester (OBT) from Rohde & Schwarz into its WaveStudio software suite. This integration enables users to directly perform both 5G NR and LTE over-the-air (OTA) signaling testing using MVG’s antenna measurement systems. By streamlining the test environment, the update simplifies complex testing processes for manufacturers and engineers working on next-generation wireless devices.
The R&S CMX500 OBT supports full stack generation and analysis of 4G, 5G NR, WLAN and LTE signals, making it an essential component for wireless device testing. In combination with MVG’s multiprobe measurement systems, this allows precise OTA testing under real-world conditions. The integration into WaveStudio ensures that MVG’s systems are now fully equipped to handle 5G NR Standalone (SA) mode, RedCap and LTE (FDD & TDD) signaling testing.
The integration supports multiple hardware configurations of the CMX500 OBT, including CMX Lite and CMX Pro, enabling flexible testing across a wide range of wireless standards such as 5G NR FR1 SA, RedCap and LTE. These capabilities provide users with comprehensive frequency band coverage and streamlined testing setups, allowing for faster and more accurate development cycles. This integration removes the complexities of earlier setups and reduces the time required for the preparation and measurements.
“The integration of the CMX500 into WaveStudio allows us to offer our customers a streamlined, more efficient solution to perform OTA tests for both of 4G and 5G mobile devices using MVG multiprobe systems,” said Pierre Jurek, MVG’s chief commercial officer. “In alignment with the Rohde & Schwarz product strategy, MVG has decided to support the different OBT configurations. This move is expected to simplify customer system setups and enhance measurement efficiency. Additionally, we are looking forward to expanding our testing capabilities to include Wi-Fi technologies, starting with Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), offering even greater flexibility for manufacturers working across multiple wireless technologies from a single tester.”
“We are excited to extend our collaboration with MVG to bring their customers even more efficiency and flexibility as they confidently deploy their devices for the latest technologies,” said Christoph Pointner, senior vice president of mobile radio testers at Rohde & Schwarz. “With our tried-and-tested CMX500 one-box signaling tester with its extensive multi-band capabilities they obtain a future-proof solution that simplifies the OTA test setup significantly.”
