Plasma trails created by hypersonic vehicles passing through the atmosphere create challenges for radar detection and radio communication through the plasma layer. This paper discusses the FDTD method to simulate the behavior of plasma materials using Remcom’s XFdtd 3D EM Simulation solver and presents validation in one and three dimensions.
