ERNI Elektroapparate GmbH has changed its name to ERNI Electronics GmbH, thus affirming its global presence and product portfolio for the international market. Over 50 years ago the company began with the development and manufacture of relays and in 1967 entered the interconnect market with the development and manufacture of the first backplane connector.

Martin Seidenfuß, managing director of ERNI Electronics, commented, "By changing the company name, we are keeping step with ERNI's evolution as a business. The company strategy is directed towards the global market, and the diverse product spectrum covers a broad range of applications. From its beginning as a provider of relays and electric controls, ERNI Electronics has advanced to become a supplier of diverse connectors, backplanes and complete electromechanical rack systems. We are increasingly delivering subsystems and complete solutions to our worldwide customer base, a development that is reflected in the consistently rising turnover figures for our systems technology area."

The company is a profitable, mid-sized enterprise with a staff of 500 and a turnover of around €130 million for the 2006 fiscal year. Capitalizing on its flagship connector product line, ERNI Electronics is continuing to invest in system technology with the production of backplanes and subsystems. A new €2.7 M product and administration facility will be approximately 3000 m2 and underscores the company's commitment to this industry segment.
