Akoustis Technologies, Inc. announced that its patented XBAW® filters are designed into a new tri-band Wi-Fi 6E consumer access point (AP) platform.
The new design will use multiple Akoustis 5 GHz and 6 GHz XBAW® coexistence filters in a 2 x 4 multi-user, multiple-in-multiple-out (MU-MIMO), tri-band Wi-Fi 6E AP router. The 5 GHz filter module covers the U-NII-1 to U-NII-3 bands of the Wi-Fi 6E standards, while the 6 GHz filter covers the entire U-NII-5 thru U-NII-8 bands. Both filters exhibit high performance, high-power handling, ultra-wide bandpass and coexistence capabilities. Akoustis has received high volume orders from the customer to support the production ramp in the March quarter of calendar year 2024.
Dave Aichele, EVP of business development at Akoustis, stated, “Akoustis is excited to secure a design win and obtain a high volume order from a Tier-1 leading consumer Wi-Fi AP customer.” Aichele continued, “This design win expands upon our success in the Wi-Fi consumer market and provides significant order backlog for deliveries of our latest Wi-Fi 6E/7 filters in the upcoming March quarter.”
Akoustis maintains its momentum with demand and an expanding sales pipeline for its XBAW® filter products, in addition to its new XBAW®/SAW resonator and oscillator products and semiconductor back-end services. The company continues to secure new design wins in its target markets including Wi-Fi, 5G infrastructure and automotive, many of which are slated to ramp into production in the coming months.
