The latest white paper by GSMA, “5G mmWave Deployment Best Practices” covers the best practices in order to optimise the performance of 5G mmWave mobile networks in both indoor and outdoor scenarios.
Mobile operators are deploying 5G mmWave in crowded urban areas, such as sports arenas, stadiums, airports, concerts and other large venues. Operating at frequencies of 24 GHz and higher, these 5G Frequency Range 2 networks are able to deliver multi-gigabit data rates and very low latency.
The 5G mmWave spectrum bands offer a 10-fold increase in available contiguous bandwidth compared to sub-6 GHz 5G Frequency Range 1 bands. As a result, 5G mmWave networks can handle a greater number of connections with a possible improvement to individual data rates.
