Tektronix Inc., a worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that it is working with LitePoint Corp., a provider of advanced wireless test solutions, to create an end-to end test solution for WiMAX. The effort between LitePoint and Tektronix, including new test tools for trouble-shooting WiMAX application design utilizing a Tektronix Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer, will address the full value chain of test needs from pre-development through to final production test. The collaboration will provide fast time to production and a low cost per test manufacturing solution for WiMAX.
With tested, proven WiMAX offerings, and using a Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer that provides powerful trouble shooting tool for digital RF applications, the industry will be able to achieve fast time to production for a variety of end-user products, including consumer electronics, computers and hand-held devices. A technology demonstration of this WiMAX test capability will be presented at a special seminar during the WiMAX World USA conference in Boston, MA, being held this week. LitePoint will be demonstrating its test software in conjunction with the Tektronix RSA3408A Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer this Wednesday, October 11, 2006 beginning at 8:30 am at the Langham Hotel. The technology demonstration will feature spectrum and modulation measurements on OFDM and OFDMA signals in accordance with standard IEEE 802.16-2004 and IEEE 802.16e mobile WiMAX standards. Tektronix and LitePoint will perform needed time- and frequency-domain measurements to decompose signals and uncover anomalies, and provide in-depth analysis for troubleshooting WiMAX applications and devices at the design stage.
“The wireless communications value chain is being redefined as a result of globalization, demanding shorter time-to-market at lower costs,” said Benny Madsen, CEO of LitePoint. “Through our work with Tektronix, we are extending our successful value chain approach for complete test solutions further back into R&D. The WiMAX collaboration will provide the world’s fastest time to production and lowest cost per test manufacturing solution.”
“Tektronix Real-Time Spectrum Analyzers are the only analyzers designed specifically to meet the needs of engineers and technicians who need to solve digital RF problems and are ideal for R&D uses,” said Rick King, vice president, Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer product line, Tektronix. “With the RSA3408A, WiMAX engineers will be able to view RF signal instabilities and transients that they never knew existed. With LitePoint, we will show engineering development teams how to improve the quality of their WiMAX designs and speed time to market.”
