Skyworks has launched a 2.4 GHz front-end module (FEM) designed for Zigbee®, Thread and Bluetooth® ultra-low power IoT applications.

The SKY66404-11 integrates a power amplifier, low noise amplifier with a low-loss bypass path, transmit and receive switches and digital controls compatible with 1.7 to 3.6 V CMOS. The FEM provides increased efficiency and more than a 4x range extension over previous models, and the wide supply voltage range maintains operation over a broad portion of the battery discharge curve.

The FEM supports IoT applications, such as sensors, beacons, smart meters, thermostats, wireless cameras, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and wearables including medical devices. It has been designed in reference designs with Dialog Semiconductor, Nordic Semiconductor, NXP, Texas Instruments and Silicon Labs.
