Shmuel Auster has been elected as the IEEE Israel Section Chair, having served as the IEEE Israel Section’s treasurer and board of directors member since January 2018.
Auster has been with IAI/Elta Systems since August 2006, where he is R&D coordinator and liaison manager. Previously, he served as the chief scientist at Elbit/Elisra Electronic Systems , from 1980 until 2006. From 1993 to 2000, he represented Elisra as a director of the Israeli GaAs/MMIC Consortium and served as the chair of the technical (R&D) committee of the consortium.
Since 2010, Auster has served as chairman of the Israeli Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a director at the Association of Engineers and Architects in Israel (AEAI) and a member of The Council of Engineering, Ministry of Labor for the Israeli government.
In 2018, he received a certificate of appreciation from the Technion “for his significant contribution to the Technion EE Faculty over the years.” In 2011, 2014 and 2015, he received certificates of appreciation from the engineering faculty of the Ben Gurion University and an Honorary Member Certificate from the Shenkar College of Engineering. He has received certificates of appreciation from the IEEE EPS president (2019), IEEE Israel section chair (2018), IEEE presidents (2016 and 2009), IEEE MTT-S presidents (four times), IEEE ComSoc president (2015), IEEE EMCS (2003), and IEEE Region 8 director (2009).
Auster holds a bachelor’s of science, received in 1980, and a master’s of science, received in 1986, in electrical and electronics engineering from Tel Aviv University and received a degree in engineering management (Summa Cum Laude) in 1993.
