India’s Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication (IETE) has awarded its highest honor, the Honorary Fellowship, to Dr. Ulrich Rohde, founder and chairman of Synergy Microwave. The IETE is a scientific and industrial research and educational organization promoting India’s national development and growth.
The Honorary Fellowship of the Institution recognizes an eminent person working in science, technology, education and industry. Outstanding personalities from science, technology, education and industry are included in this honorary fellowship.
Rohde is recognized for his contributions to low noise oscillator technology. In 2016, he received the Microwave Application Award by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society, recognizing the application of his work. In 2015, he received the I. I. Rabi Award from the IEEE for his contributions to atomic and molecular frequency standards.
Previous dignitaries received IETE’s Honorary Fellowship include major technocrats, Nobel laureates, industrialists and national and international leaders, such as Dr. S Radhakrishnan (who inaugurated IETE in 1953), Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Shri G. Madhavan Nair, Prof. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, Dr. Vasant Gowarikar, Dr. RA Mashelkar, FRS, Shri N. R. Narayana Murthy, Dr. Ratan N. Tata, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Prof. C. N. Rao (Bharat Ratna), Prof. S. Chandrasekhar (Nobel Laureate), Dr. R. Chidambaram.
