* Plexus Corp. completed its previously announced acquisition of electronic manufacturing services provider Qtron Inc. Plexus paid approximately $30 M in cash and assumed approximately $17 M in debt, in addition to Qtron's ordinary trade payables. The acquisition was financed through Plexus' existing capital resources.

* Fluke Corp., part of the Danaher family of companies, announced that Danaher intends to acquire Lifschultz Industries Inc., including its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hart Scientific Inc. Under the agreement, Hart will become part of the Fluke Precision Measurement group while continuing to do business as Hart Scientific.

* First Source Inc. acquired M & O Distributing. This acquisition will provide additional stock availability to support the recently opened Southern California office.

* REMEC Inc. has completed the acquisition of Multipoint Radio Inc. (MRI). The addition of MRI provides a significant increase in REMEC's millimeter-wave radio technology base.

* MCE Companies Inc. has changed its name to MCE Technologies Inc. as part of a corporate wide communications program to more effectively describe MCE and its business. In connection with the name change, MCE introduced a new corporate logo. In related news, the company announced that in the first quarter of 2001 it launched a start up company, MCE OptoElectronics Inc., to develop optoelectronic components and subsystems for the telecommunications industry. MCE OptoElectronics Inc. is focused on InP technology for development of the various high speed photonic and electronic functions for high data rate fiber-optic transceivers.

* MicroMetrics is currently underway on building its new 28,000 square-foot addition in Londonderry, NH. The facility, totaling 45,000 square-feet when complete, will house a brand new process lab and state-of-the-art manufacturing capability. The addition and facility upgrades are expected to be completed in October.

* Hittite Microwave Corp. opened its first international office, Hittite Microwave Europe Ltd. This new facility will house a staff of sales and field applications engineers that will support the company's expanding European customer base. * Atmel Corp. opened its Atmel RF Wireless and Secure Products Design Center in Hoffman Estates, IL. The center will focus on creating new, innovative designs targeting two primary markets: mobile communications and secure products. This design center will enhance the company's ability to provide comprehensive support for the ever increasing demands of the wireless and e-business markets.

* European Antennas opened a new 600 square-meter Electron Building on its Cheveley, Newmarket, UK site. The company is part of the Chelton Group of companies, a subsidiary of Cobham plc.

* Channel Microwave Corp. opened a division in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. Channel Microwave Corp. East specializes in the design and manufacture of filters for the use in the DC to 30 GHz range.

* Elcom Technologies has moved to a new, modern facility which more than doubles its manufacturing and engineering space. Previously located in Closter, NJ, the company has relocated to 11 Volvo Dr., Rockleigh, NJ.

* IFR Systems Inc. opened a new European headquarters for its Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) division in Pin Green, Stevenage, UK. The new dedicated location is the result of a $500 K investment following a re-evaluation of its ATE business and corporate decision to commit to its long term future.

* ParkerVision Inc. and PrairieComm Inc. have signed a definitive agreement to jointly develop advanced chipsets and reference designs for cellular handsets and other wireless devices. The chipsets will utilize PrairieComm's state-of-the-art baseband IC platforms with ParkerVision's innovative Direct2Data direct conversion radio technology. In related news, ParkerVision announced an agreement with Texas Instruments to develop advanced RF solutions that enable enhanced wireless connectivity, while reducing system size, cost and overall power consumption in the next generation of wireless handsets.

* Cree Inc. signed a letter of intent with Microsemi Corp. for the development of SiC-based Schottky diodes. The letter calls for the parties to negotiate a development agreement under which Cree will provide SiC chips and Microsemi will develop packaging, applications and marketing distribution channels.

* Stanford Microdevices (SMDI) entered into a foundry agreement with RF Micro Devices, whereby Stanford's RFICs will be manufactured in RF Micro Devices' four-inch GaAs HBT fabrication facility in Greensboro, NC. The agreement is specifically limited to the manufacture of proprietary SMDI wafers, and does not entail the exchange of intellectual property or any co-branding of products between the two companies.

* GTRAN Inc. and IQE Plc. entered into a partnership for the supply of InP HBT epitaxial wafers for use in GRTAN's next generation of fiber optic products. Through this partnership, IQE and GTRAN have worked closely to optimize and integrate the key epitaxial materials into a high volume wafer fabrication process.

* Zeevo Inc. has entered a vendor partnership agreement with custom design house NSM Technology Ltd. The engineering services agreement calls for joint efforts to develop a complete solution for customers to evaluate Zeevo's recently announced TC2000™ single-chip Bluetooth solution.

* SiGe Semiconductor announced that its PA2423MB power amplifier has been selected by Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) for integration on CSR's BlueCore01 modules. The modules provide a complete, efficient and low power solution that accelerates time-to-market for Class 1 Bluetooth-enabled PCs, workstations and PCMCIA cards. In related news, Siemens has selected the PA2423MB for integration into one of the industry's first qualified Bluetooth-USB adapter, the B427data.

* GHz Technology has selected the high precision automated assembly systems from Palomar Technologies to help meet growing demand for its products in the cellular and PCS arena. In addition to using Palomar's automated die attach and wire bonding equipment, GHz recently added the new HotRail™ machine to its assembly line.

* The RF Connectors Division of RF Industries has signed a national distribution agreement with Surface Mount Distribution Inc. The agreement covers RF Connectors' full line of coaxial connector and cable products.

* Toko America Inc. has signed a North American Distribution Agreement with Richardson Electronics Ltd. Richardson will distribute Toko's extensive line of passive and semiconductor products throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

* Microwave Development Company Inc. (MDC) has been awarded ISO 9001:1994 certification. MDC is a manufacturer of custom microwave components for military and commercial markets.

* Agilent Technologies Inc.'s FBAR duplexer is a key component in AirPrime's new family of CDMA wireless access modules for handheld computers. The first AirPrime product to use the FBAR duplexer is the CDMA Springboard module developed for the Handspring Visor. In related news, the duplexer will be incorporated into multiple handset platforms and wireless appliances to be developed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.

* Picosecond Pulse Labs Inc. has been awarded ISO 9001 certification for its manufacturing facilities in Boulder, CO and Beaverton, OR.

* Duraswitch Industries Inc. has been granted Australian Letters Patent No. 727962. The patent covers the company's core technology, a switch with magnetically coupled armature.

* Quasar Microwave Technology Ltd., Devon, UK, was conferred by a Grant of Appointment, the Queen's Award for Enterprise 2001.

FINANCIAL NEWS

* ADC reports sales of $652 M for the second quarter ended April 30, compared to $771 M for the same period last year. Net loss was $115 M (15¢/diluted share) compared to a net income of $72 M (10¢/diluted share) for the second quarter of 2000.

* REMEC Inc. reports sales of $58.9 M for the first quarter ended April 27, compared to $56.6 M for the same period last year. Net loss was $9.2 M (21¢/share) compared to a net income of $1.4 M (3¢/share) for the first quarter of 2000.

* ParkerVision Inc. reports sales of $4.6 M for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2000, compared to $2.4 M for the same period of the previous year. Net loss was $2.3 M (17¢/share) compared to $3.5 M (30¢/share) for the fourth quarter of 1999.

* RF Industries Ltd. reports sales of $2.404 M for the second quarter ended April 30, compared to $1.892 M for the same period last year. Net income was $249 K (6¢/diluted share) compared to $281 K (8¢/diluted share) for the second quarter of 2000.

* Andrew Corp. reports sales of $251.5 M for the second quarter ended March 31, compared to $220.0 M for the same period last year. Net income was $8.2 M (10¢/share) compared to $17.3 M (21¢/share) for the second quarter of 2000.

* Infineon Technologies AG filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission to enable a public offering of shares by the company. Goldman, Sachs & Co. has been appointed global coordinator.

CONTRACTS

* Nokia Networks has awarded a contract to TRW Inc. to develop electronics subsystems for the Nokia UltraSite cellular basestation product family. Nokia and TRW are to cooperate on design and development in the areas of multimode 3G basestations.

* Allgon has been awarded an in-building wireless coverage for the Moscone convention center in San Francisco, CA. The contract covers a multi-carrier fiber-fed solution including operation and maintenance for five years. The system can carry cellular PCS and paging services and be upgraded to encompass existing wireless service providers in the area.

* EMS Technologies Inc. received a seven-year contract form the US Department of Transportation (DoT) for technical services relating to wireless technologies and network services. Under the contract, EMS will compete in the Wireless Technologies/Networks area for task orders submitted by various government customers to perform wireless communications and connectivity systems and services.

* APA Wireless Technologies will provide Tyco International Ltd. with breakthrough YRO™ series digital RF components for military communications applications. Under the multi-year, multi-million dollar contract, APA will produce YRO-based RF components for use in Tyco's military encryption field rations.

PERSONNEL

* REMEC Inc. named David L. Morash executive VP and chief financial officer. Previously, Morash served as CFO for Wireless Knowledge, a Qualcomm and Microsoft company.

* Merrimac Industries Inc. has elected Harold J. Raveche to its Board of Directors. Currently, Raveche is president of the Stevens Institute of Technology.

* Picosecond Pulse Labs Inc. added Peter Cochrane to its board of directors. Cochrane will serve as a non-executive director to expand the company's technical, industry and business vision.

* Xemod Inc. hired Scott Behan as its new VP for product development. Behan joins the company from AML Communications where he served most recently as executive VP of engineering.

In related news, the company named Dave Sheldon eastern regional sales manager. MWJ6ESLING * ITT Industries, Cannon named Paul H. Esling director, Contract Equipment Manufacturing (CEM). In this capacity, Esling will be responsible for Cannon's global CEM strategy. Most recently, Esling was director of sales and marketing of Celestica Corp.

* Antenna Specialists, a division of Allen Telecom Inc., appointed Michael Uxa national sales manager for the division's new Consumer Products Group. Previously, Uxa was a regional sales manager for Antenna Specialists' professional and cellular product lines.MWJ6UXA

* Celerity Digital Broadband Test, a division of L-3 Communications, named Rick Dimos western regional sales manager. Prior to joining the company, Dimos was employed for 12 years with Agilent's sales organization in Los Angeles and four years in sales with Tektronix.

* Colin Forrester has been appointed operations manager of Radio Frequency Investigation's (RFI) Mobile Communications Group. Forrester replaces Richard Jacklin, whose role changed to operations director in January.

* Ulrich Hamann assumed responsibility for Infineon Technologies' Wireless Communications group. At the same time, Hermann Eaul took over the Security and Chip Card ICs group and Gunter Weinberger was appointed as the new chief technology officer for Infineon's Wireline Communications group. The recent changes in executive functions and segments come as part of the company's strategy to encourage an important exchange of information and experience between operating segments and to promote communication and collaboration across all segments and functions.
