In June, Microwave Journal celebrates its diamond anniversary in our 60th year in publishing with a cover feature focused on diamond technologies used in RF/microwave applications. The article covers applications from GaN on diamond to diamond passive devices to diamond materials in packaging that is fitting with our Semiconductor and Packaging theme. Diamond is the best known conductor of heat so it is well suited for minimizing the heat for these high power applications. We will also be celebrating other companies and organizations commemorating their diamond anniversaries this year including W. L. Gore, Rosenberger, C. W. Swift, DARPA and NASA. Look for a short historical overview of each organization in the issue. Other articles will include design of broadband GaN power amplifiers; overcoming the challenges of on-wafer load pull measurements at mmWaves for 5G; and a Ka-Band low phase noise VCO.
We have developed special cover art that will be high impact and bound to attract attention. It will have some special treatments to make it stand out. In addition, we are developing a special animation that will be used for augmented reality implementation on the cover. The animation will include some of the early innovators in wireless science and technology plus commemorate our 60th anniversary.
In June, we also publish our Aerospace & Defense supplement featuring articles on choosing the right semiconductor technology for pulsed radar applications, overcoming wideband radar test & measurement challenges, and a tunable 6 bit phase shifter based on ferroelectric material.
July is our RF/microwave software and design issue with a featured article made up of contributions from 5-6 of the leading EDA companies on how design platforms maximize performance and reduce time-to-market. Each company will describe the design platform’s attributes and services for the RF design engineer, its distinguishing features, and future plans for enhancements. Another featured article discusses the design of an ultra wide-band, “brick wall” filter with impressive performance.
Finally, don’t forget that August is our EuMW 2018 themed issue so plan ahead. We hope to see you in Philadelphia at IMS and in Madrid at EuMW.
