Anritsu and EMITE are proud to announce that the new Anritsu Wireless Connectivity Test Set MT8862A, an integrated one‐box test set specifically for testing IEEE802.11 WLAN devices, has been successfully used in combination to the EMITE E500 Reverberation Chamber to test OTA figures of merit for IEEE802.11ac/n/a/g/b devices. The tests were performed for a top5 OEM. With built‐in communications protocols, the MT8862A measures the performance of the WLAN devices in the actual operating state, and is the first test equipment of its kind to support all IEEE802.11ac/n/a/g/b standards. The new integration has been able to successfully measure TRP and TIS in signaling mode for IEEE802.11ac devices for the first time worldwide.
”We are proud once again to develop a world’s first with the aid of Anritsu’s unique Wireless Connectivity Test Set MT8862A WLAN and our very special E500 Reverberation Chamber. One of our main customers is very happy, therefore we are very happy. It is nice to prove the added value of a fruitful co‐operation to our customers and get properly rewarded”, said David Sanchez‐Hernandez, CEO and co‐founder of EMITE. "Being able to test TRP/TIS in signaling mode for an IEEE802.11ac device was a unique self‐experience, and brings WLAN testing to a new level", he added.
The incredibly rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) has prompt an urgent need to test the latest WLAN technologies, and not only for smartphones, but also for a wide range of IoT applications, including home electronics such printers and TVs, the connected car, industrial equipment, sensors and many more, but in a realistic manner and not just using wires. With the added capabilities of OTA testing, the test results for WLAN devices now account for the effect of their internal wireless antennas, providing much more realistic results. The Wireless Connectivity Test Set MT8862A is targeted at design and quality assurance of WLAN devices. It has built‐in standard WLAN protocol messaging (WLAN signaling) with Network Mode for testing the transmitter and receiver performance of a WLAN device non‐destructively and using an OTA (Over The Air) measurement. The MT8862A offers faster integration into production, a universal solution for all WLAN chip sets, and is simpler to maintain and calibrate. It also reduces test system costs, increases production throughput, and delivers the most flexible WLAN testing available.
EMITE’s unique multicavity mode‐stirred source‐stirred reverberation chamber solutions (MSRC) provide for variety of fading scenarios at a fraction of the cost of alternative anechoic chamber‐based test solutions. Along with conventional uniform, isotropic Rayleigh and more complex SCME‐based fading profiles for MIMO OTA testing, the EMITE solutions are the only ones also offering other standardized fading profiles using the patented Sample Selection technique, something unheard of in the wireless arena until now.
