CAE S.p.A., a supplier of environmental monitoring systems, has selected Sivers IMA as its radar module partner for the company’s Level Probing Radar (LPR) Hydrometer. Under this partnership Sivers IMA will deliver FMCW radar technology enabling CAE to provide a state-of-the-art LPR Hydrometer solution.
“The LPR is now available on the market, both in a version for measuring water level in streams, rivers and reservoirs, as well as in a version for wave measurement applications. It has been a great pleasure working with Sivers IMA’s FMCW radar front-end, it provides great resolution and works very well in harsh environments, which is a perfect fit for the CAE LPR product,” said Lorenzo Giandomenico, Technical Director of CAE.
“This design win is yet another proof point that radar becomes more and more commonly used in many different applications. Using radar for measuring distance, speed or positioning is receiving more and more traction within the use cases that Sivers IMA is addressing. I am very pleased that Sivers IMA’s technical radar expertise and experience from high resolution and harsh environments, has been able to help CAE develop an excellent and innovative product like the LPR,” said Anders Storm, CEO of Sivers IMA.
The LPR prototype has been finally approved in 2015 and the sensor has received the ETSI and the FCC certifications during 2016. Following the start of industrial production, Sivers IMA has recently received a first relevant order of radar front-ends for the LPR units. The components will be delivered in two batches, one in December 2016 and the other one in January 2017.
