At the electronica trade fair in Munich, Skyworks Solutions launched a portfolio of CATV infrastructure products for DOCSIS 3.1 and EuroDOCSIS 3.1. The family includes the first commercially available linear amplifiers in Europe that operate to 1218 MHz, according to the company. In a press release, Skyworks said it had secured a design win with a major European CATV equipment manufacturer.
Two power doublers featured include the
- ACA1216, a 12 V power doubler MMIC amplifier with the highest linear RF power for a high gain 12 V CATV surface-mount device. The MMIC provides +75 dBmV output power, with −78 dBc CTB and 27.5 dB gain.
- ACA2429, a 24 V power doubler with low bit error rate over temperature, from −40°C to +110°C. The amplifier provides +59 dBmV output power, with −78 dBc CTB and 25 dB gain.
The ACA product designation is the same ANADIGICS used for their CATV products, suggesting that Skyworks acquired the portfolio from II-VI, after II-VI acquired ANADIGICS in a bidding war with a Chinese venture. In June 2016, II-VI announced that it had sold “certain” ANADIGICS RF assets to an unnamed company for $50 million. Skyworks would not confirm that they were the other party in the deal.
