Narda Safety Test Solutions has launched the new AMS-8061 Area Monitor. This autonomous measuring station monitors electromagnetic fields from 100 kHz to 6 GHz in up to 20 freely definable frequency bands. This allows the field exposure levels due to e.g., GSM, UMTS, and LTE as well as DAB and DVB-T to be recorded separately. The measurement conforms to ITU-T Recommendation K.83 “Monitoring of electromagnetic field levels”. It also has a robust, weatherproof casing, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The AMS-8061 operates independently. Its solar cells and rechargeable batteries enable uninterrupted measurements over a practically unlimited period. The device stores the results internally, for example every six minutes over a period of 30 days. The results can be read locally via Ethernet, USB or RS 232, or transferred to SD card and taken away, or accessed remotely over a cell phone link. The monitor also includes its current position in GPS coordinates with the measurement data, simplifying mobile operations.The device automatically sends an SMS if a limit value is exceeded or if there is a fault.
The built-in antennas of the Area Monitor capture frequencies in the range 100 kHz to 6 GHz. A spectrum analyzer selects the individual frequency components and collates them into freely definable frequency bands. In this way, the device provides selective measurement procedures that comply with ITU-T K.83 Chapter 7. The device can be integrated into web-based applications, while PC software simplifies evaluation and documentation.
