Barry Industries and Modelithics, Inc. have published a report detailing the broadband performance of Barry's 5 mm high temperature co-fired ceramic (HTCC) quad-flat-no-leads (QFN) package to 40 GHz. Barry Industries is an ISO9001:2008 certified ITAR-registered manufacturer of high quality thick film resistors, terminations, attenuators and high temperature co-fired ceramic (HTCC) packaging.
The report presents the accurate modeling of each of the 5 mm QFNs 32 pins to 40 GHz using a combination of Ansys HFSS 3D simulation and precision Modelithics measurement data. The model features 64 ports for the inner and outer connections of each pin and two model package options depending on the design configuration. The Modelithics model is validated with a comparison to actual measured data, including an example fixture with a transmission line mounted and connected with wire bonds in the Barry package. The full Modelithics report is available on the Barry Industries website at www.barryind.com.
Barry offers RoHS-compliant hermetically sealable ceramic QFN packages in sizes 3mm to 8mm with standard JEDEC MO-220 footprints and pin counts. Due to the versatility of this product line, custom pin counts and paddle sizes can be accommodated with ease.
