RFMW Ltd. announces design and sales support for API Technologies’ 305W single channel rotary joint. The API rotary joint is used to transmit RF energy from a stationary RF source to a rotating RF line and finds applications in military and commercial markets such as mobile satellite communication systems, radar systems including civil air traffic control and weather radars.

The 305W operates from DC to 12.4 GHz through type N coaxial connectors. VSWR is as low as 1.15:1. Rotary joints have inherently low insertion loss as evidenced by the 305W with loss ranging from <0.2 dB below 6 GHz to <0.3 dB below 12.4 GHz. Capable of handling up to 10 kW peak power, this rotary joint is rated at 500 W average power and up to 10 amps of DC current. The rotation rating of the API 305W is 500 RPM.
