With the new PicoScope® 9341 20 GHz Sampling Oscilloscope, engineers can analyze two differential or four single-ended high-speed signals. The instrument is ideal for measuring skew and crosstalk between differential pairs on serial buses such as HDMI, SATA and PCIe, and for testing signal integrity at differential and single-ended transceiver ports. Data rates up to 40 Gb/s can be viewed, with 5th-harmonic characterization possible up to 8 Gb/s.
“The PicoScope 9341 is the only compact four-channel sampling oscilloscope on the market,” explained Alan Tong, managing director of market leader Pico Technology. “Its specifications and features are a match for traditional full-sized benchtop instruments but at a fraction of the cost.” The oscilloscope can be used for pre-compliance tests, fault-finding and margin testing on serial data signals such as 10 Gb Ethernet, SONET/SDH STM64 and FEC1071, 10x Fibre Channel, InfiniBand and PCIe. The scope is controlled through its LAN or USB interface using the PicoSample™ 3 software included. PicoSample 3 provides a large-screen user interface and advanced display features such as color and density profiling, multiple trace windows, histograms, multiple measurements and statistics. Regular software updates are provided free of charge.
The small footprint of the PicoScope 9341 allows it to be positioned right next to the device or port under test, without recourse to expensive pull-out sampling modules. Specification highlights include 17.5 ps input rise time, two dual-channel samplers with 16-bit, 60 dB dynamic range ADCs, 5 ps/div dual timebase, 14 GHz trigger bandwidth, and time interval resolution of 64 fs. Typical input noise is 1.5 mV RMS at full bandwidth, with trigger jitter of only 1.8 ps RMS.
Optional high-impedance TETRIS® active probes are available with bandwidths up to 2.5 GHz. They stack on a 0.1 inch (2.54 mm) pitch to allow probing of closely spaced device leads. The 0.9 pF input capacitance minimizes the loading on the circuit under test and maintains high input impedance over the full bandwidth.
The PicoSample 3 software uses intuitive graphics, click-and-drag operations and measurement labels to simplify and speed up operation. The flexible layout displays only the controls and menus you need, leaving the maximum space for your data. There is an unrivalled suite of measurement and analysis functions: 61 math operations, 138 automatic measurements and 167 standard comms masks from 1.54 Mb/s to 12.5 Gb/s. It’s compatible with all versions of Microsoft Windows® from XP (SP3) to 8.1.
The PicoScope 9341 4 Channel 20 GHz Sampling Oscilloscope is available now from Pico distributors worldwide and from www.picotech.com for only $22,395 / €16,423 / £13,573. All advertised hardware and software features are included in the price, with no hidden extras. A free copy of the software can be downloaded for evaluation.
