Rohde & Schwarz and Mesuro showcase their continuing collaboration on non-linear measurement solutions at European Microwave Week in Rome. In a joint demo at the Rohde & Schwarz booth (hall 9, booth 102), the companies present their testing solution based on the R&S ZVA vector network analyzer from Rohde & Schwarz and Mesuro’s behavioral modeling formulations.

The Cardiff Model Lite solution allows customers to characterize components understanding their non-linear properties. Using Mesuro’s phase reference technology the standard R&S ZVA vector network analyzer can be turned into a non-linear device (NVNA). The signal routing and conditioning that provides the appropriate signals, including the phase reference, are contained within external hardware, connected to the VNA via link cables. With the modeling hardware being external, the maximum RF performance of the R&S ZVA is not impacted when the customer is executing standard VNA measurements.

The solution is particularly applicable for customers integrating component blocks and needing to understand interactions between different circuit elements. The dataset can be output in its raw format or as a .XNP file for easy transfer and use within the EDA simulation environments.

Other joint non-linear solutions are available including active, passive and hybrid configurations.Using the R&S ZVA series four source VNA, a harmonic load pull system ‘in a box’ is achieved.

The joint solutions are marketed through Rohde & Schwarz and solutions are currently available for all R&S ZVA models up to 67 GHz. The R&S ZVA series,  the high-end class of the Rohde & Schwarz network analyzers, combines operating ease and high measurement speed with exceptional RF characteristics, a wide scope of functions, and high flexibility.
