Ethertronics Inc., a leading technology company enabling innovative antenna and RF system solutions to deliver the best connected experience, announced the appointment of Vahid Manian as chief operating officer. In his new role with the company, Manian will be responsible for Ethertronics’ Chip and Systems Divisions, and will lead all global manufacturing, supply chain, quality, sales, technology design, marketing and business development efforts for the company.
Manian joins Ethertronics from Entropic, where he served as the company’s senior vice president of global engineering and operations. A seasoned semiconductor executive with more than 30 years of proven business, technology and operations experience, Vahid was responsible for Entropic’s global engineering and operations organizations, including hardware and software product development, technical operations, quality and supply management. In his two years at Entropic, Manian successfully expanded the scale and scope of the public company’s global operations organization, and implemented innovative manufacturing cost reduction and long-range capacity planning strategies that had a significant impact on gross margins and inventory turns.
“The last two years have been pivotal in the diversification of our product portfolio, particularly with our chip business,” said Laurent Desclos, president and CEO of Ethertronics. “As we continue to grow our company and enter new markets, it is important that we lead these efforts with an experienced team. Vahid’s more than 30 years’ experience in the semiconductor business coupled with his broad expertise and leadership in business operational efficiencies will be an invaluable asset as Ethertronics further positions itself for growth and success in the coming years. We are excited to have him join our high-caliber management team.”
“Ethertronics’ strong reputation for innovation and recent diversification of its business has enabled it to gain significant traction with companies worldwide,” said Manian. “With Ethertronics’ global footprint, I believe there is a great opportunity to create further scale and capability across the company, benefiting both its cost structure and growth profile. I am pleased to be part of the Ethertronics team and have high expectations for success.”
Prior to Entropic, Manian was responsible for all operations activity at Telegent Systems, a leading supplier of silicon solutions for mobile TV applications, later acquired by Spreadtrum Communication, a Shanghai-based semiconductor company. Prior to Telegent, Manian served as senior vice president of global manufacturing operations at Broadcom Corporation, where he oversaw the company’s operations and manufacturing activities including foundry operations and process technology direction. He joined Broadcom in 1996, and established the operations strategy, which helped grow the company from a start-up to a multi-billion dollar organization leveraging best-in-class delivery and inventory management systems.
He previously served on the board of directors, and was elected vice chairman, of the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), which is focused on accelerating the growth and increasing the return on invested capital for the global semiconductor industry.
