As a result of the acquisition of EM Software & Systems - S.A. by Altair, the company has gained a local presence in Stellenbosch, South Africa with tremendous depth of industry expertise. EMSS is the maker of FEKO® electromagnetic field analysis software, which is now becoming part of Altair’s computer-aided engineering (CAE) suite HyperWorks®. Personnel in Stellenbosch will be responsible for all sales and support activities in the region.

Altair’s technology allows businesses to create superior, market-leading products efficiently and cost effectively. Apart from several modelling and visualization products, HyperWorks offers analysis and optimization for structural analysis and lightweight design, computational fluid dynamics, multi-body system performance, manufacturing process simulations for metal and polymer extrusion, sheet metal forming simulation, and more.

“The flexible software licensing model replaces traditional licensing plans with a pay-per-use system, which means that users can use multiple applications for a unit-based flat rate rather than paying for each license,” explained Gronum Smith, newly appointed country manager for Altair South Africa. “This approach leads to higher software utilisation, making companies more productive while reducing costs and resulting in a higher return on investment.”

HyperWorks users also have access to a broad range of complementary product offerings from independent software vendors through the Altair Partner Alliance. Software covering areas such as composite modelling, plastic injection moulding as well as project and complexity management, durability, fatigue, noise, vibration and harshness are just some of the solutions available.

“We are very excited to offer local sales and technical support to existing Altair customers in South Africa, and are convinced that there will be many opportunities for new business in the region,” commented Dr. Detlef Schneider, senior vice president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Altair.
