Teledyne Paradise Datacom, a business unit of Teledyne Microwave Solutions, announced the launch of the Q-FlexV™ broadcast satellite modem/modulator, a solution designed specifically for ASI and IP DVB video broadcasts. Q-FlexV now gives broadcasters a “single-box” modem and modulator solution packed with all the advanced features they need, and with an unmatched Performance-to-Price ratio in comparison to competing alternatives on the market.
A version of Paradise’s popular Q-Flex™ satellite modem, the Q-FlexV replaces the award-winning Vision series and is ideal for Ultra HDTV, DTH, DSNG, ISP backhaul, fiber restoration and video contribution and distribution services. It supports IP and ASI interfaces and can multiplex the two together, and also supports both the DVB-S2X and the legacy DVB-S/DSNG standards. Teledyne Paradise Datacom is exhibiting advancements in modem technology, including the Q-FlexV, at Stand IQ2-08 in the U.S. Pavilion.
“With the Asian region being such an important market for digital television via satellite, it is only fitting that CommunicAsia 2014 serves as the launching pad for this leading-edge broadcasting modem and modulator,” said Tony Radford, VP of Sales for Paradise. “Q-FlexV delivers all the capabilities digital broadcasters want and need, but does so in a single box, eliminating the additional cost and complexity required to obtain those capabilities in multiple boxes from competitors.”
The new DVB-S2X standard provides enhanced bandwidth efficiency with low spectral roll-off factors and additional choices of modulation and FEC rates. The ClearLinQ™ adaptive transmit pre-distortion compensates for linear and non-linear distortion in the communications channel. DVB-S2X ACM converts any unused link margin into additional throughput and provides 100% link availability.
Like the flagship Q-Flex modem, Q-FlexV is a flexible, software-defined modem that does what you want, now and in the future because updates are achieved by convenient software upgrades via Ethernet or memory stick. This flexible hardware platform makes it ideal for handling high-rate video and IP traffic. With Dual IF/L-band operation, Q-FlexV delivers data rates up to 155Mbps, has LinkGuard™ signal-under-carrier interference detection and constellation monitor, and delivers optimized spectral roll-offs down to 5%.
Additionally at CommunicAsia, the company will be hosting a gathering entitled “Less Space Segment, More Throughput” on Thursday, June 19, from 10:00 am to Noon on Level 3 of the conference center, Heliconia Room 3501A. Colin Mackay, Vice President of Modem Engineering for Paradise, will lead guests through a ‘deep dive’ into these advancements in modem technology and how they can be leveraged to make service delivery more profitable to the bottom line. The event is free, and guests may register to attend here.
