October is a big month for trade shows, with European Microwave Week starting off the festivities with its annual event, this year in Nuremberg, Germany. Past EuMW venues in Bavaria have always been Munich, site of Oktoberfest, and MWJ and friends have taken advantage of the timing to partake in the annual celebration. No such luck this year, but I’m looking forward to seeing the sites of Nuremberg, and as always, seeing many old friends, learning new things and making new acquaintances. If you do plan to attend, I encourage you to partake in the annual “Defence & Security Forum” which will take place from Tuesday afternoon through the day on Wednesday. If you’re not attending, you can keep up with the news via our Show Dailies, which begin this week.
Editor Pat Hindle and I will be travelling to Shanghai, China later in the month to attend the International Microwave Exhibition (IME), along with our China team. We’ll be distributing the latest edition of MWJ China from our booth and promoting the 2014 edition of EDI CON, the well-attended high frequency/high-speed electronic design show that debuted this past March. We also give out free coffee at our booth, so there’s always that reason to come by.
Speaking of EDI CON, we’re quickly filling up the exhibition floor space, so if you have interest in getting your company’s products in front of this audience, contact your MWJ sales rep for details. The event drew nearly 2,500 high quality attendees in its first year, and we’re expecting even bigger and better results in year two. MWJ China continues to flourish, as more companies leverage our 10,000 subscriber database to reach this growing market. We’re now working on the November/December issue which has a deadline of October 21st for ad space and October 28th for ad material.
MWJ will also be in attendance at the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association (AMTA) in Columbus, Ohio, the IEEE Compound Semiconductor IC Symposium in Monterey, CA, the IEEE Phased Array Symposium in Waltham, MA and the IEEE COMCAS event in Tel Aviv, Israel. That’s a lot of shows in the month of October. We’re going to have some tired editors…
We’re currently working on the November issue of MWJ, which is focused on “Passive & Control Components.” November also features the annual “Mobile Communications” supplement, which is distributed to our 50,000 readers and attendees of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The deadlines and details can be found in the monthly Ad Bulletin.
I hope to see many of you at one or more of the upcoming shows this month and maybe even share a beer or two. After all, you don’t have to be in Munich to celebrate Oktoberfest.
Cheers,
Carl Sheffres
