Anritsu Co. introduces TD-SCDMA signaling test capability for its industry-leading Rapid Test Designer (RTD) solution. The new software enables chipset and mobile device makers to reliably and cost-efficiently test their implementation of the 3G mobile communications standard used by China Mobile®, the world’s largest mobile network operator.
RTD, an integrated test design and execution environment, works with Anritsu’s range of mobile network simulators, including the MD8475A Signaling Tester. Device makers and network operators can use RTD to rapidly test and debug wireless mobile device signaling systems. TD-SCDMA support means that LTE chipset and device makers can now test their products’ ability to meet the specific requirements of the Chinese market in the familiar and proven Anritsu test environment.
With worldwide deployment of mobile broadband technology accelerating, developers need to ensure reliable operation using the different standards, such as LTE and TD-SCDMA, as well as the many global frequency bands being deployed. Using Anritsu’s RTD, LTE product developers can verify that products will work in areas with TD-SCDMA coverage where LTE is not yet available, and guarantee continuous service as users move across the boundaries of regions covered by different radio access technologies. An existing RTD system supporting LTE, WCDMA/HSPA, and GSM/(E)-GPRS can be upgraded to support TD-SCDMA via the MD8475A and associated software licenses.
The MD8475A is a compact, Windows 7-based tester capable of emulating two base stations or 2x2 MIMO, including support for all major formats on the China Mobile® network, including TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, and GSM. Both packet-switched and circuit-switched calls are supported, with available VoLTE, circuit-switched fallback (CSFB), and Simultaneous Voice-LTE (SV-LTE) functionality. End-to-end and data throughput testing is supported to rates of 87 MB/s using TD-LTE configuration 5 and 2.8 MB/s using TD-SCDMA with 5 codes. The MD8475A provides the capability to install user-supplied servers inside the MD8475A or to connect external servers. Anritsu’s SmartStudioTM GUI provides easy graphical control of the MD8475A, and the internal state machine emulates real network operation without the need for scripts.
