The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) announced that there will be Carrier ID ready products from five manufacturers on display at CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia.
Carrier ID Ready products will be on display by ATEME, Comtech EF Data, International Datacasting, Newtec, and Sencore.
Carrier ID is an essential tool for reducing satellite interference. In the form of a unique code embedded on each carrier, interference can be mitigated almost as quickly as it was started, and it will significantly reduce the time taken to track and correct those day-to-day interference issues that arise.
ATEME, Comtech EF Data, and Newtec will have products on display that will support the latest DVB-CID specification, which adds a low power spread spectrum carrier underneath the host carrier it will identify. This means that the correct transmission doesn’t need to be interrupted to identify the interfering carrier, enabling the operator to drastically minimize the effect on the correct user. A number of other manufacturers, including Adtec Digital and Sencore, will be launching DVB-CID products later this year.
“We are delighted that Carrier ID is being integrated by a vast majority of manufacturers,” commented Martin Coleman, Executive Director, the Satellite Interference Reduction Group. “This is the first part of the puzzle and we hope will lead to widespread adoption of Carrier ID by the satellite industry.”
Other manufacturers, not exhibiting, including NTT Electronics and Ericsson, also have Carrier ID ready products on the market.
